What should I do??????

So I have been thinking......... I do this every now and then and then I talk myself out of it.

Basically I'm thinking of having all this cut off

I was thinking possibly shoulder length maybe something like this

Although still quite safe as its just basically the length that will change.

But do love Fearne Cottons hair

Wish I had the guts to go all the way and have this one
I chicken out every time

Just before I hit 40 I had all my hair cut off into a very short bob
I did it because I fell for the "you cant wear long hair over 40"
I regretted it so much

I also keep toying with the idea of a full fringe/bangs. I also did this many a year ago, it was awful I looked like a schoolchild, the Hubby hated it. But nether the less it still keeps popping into my head.

So I'm still not sure what to do yet, I'm just so bored of my hair right now, need a change.

What do you think I should do?????

  1. I think your hair is gorgeous as it is! Such fabulous condition. Why don't you just experiment with ways of styling it to make it look different...If you must go for the chop, go more for the first look just before shoulders - don't cut it short! Good luck! Lisa

    1. Thank you Lisa xx
I wear it up quite a bit that's another reason it seems a bit pointless having it so long.

  2. Oh! Have I had this internal fight many times! What it comes down to is, you aren't going to be happy until you scratch that itch. If I am debating on whether or not to cut my hair, eventually it gets chopped. Shorter hair can be great becuase you always look "styled" but the problem is, you always have to style it (at least in my case). You have BEAUTIFUL hair which will look good at any length. It's up to you if you want to cut it, just do it! The great thing about hair is that it will grow back!!!
Good luck! Cannot wait to see what you decide!

  3. Your hair is so beautiful Gail!!! I know it'll grow back but if I had hair like yours I wouldn't cut it! I'm seriously tempted to go shorter with mine atm too! Do you think its just a phase we go through?! Its the longest its been in ages & I'd be gutted to have to start over! Ax

  6. I'm also having the same dilemma! I hit 44 next week and my hair is similar length to yours, perhaps a couple of inches shorter and I too have the "long hair over 40 is a big no no" mantra ringing in my ears! You have gorgeous hair, lovely condition too. Is that your natural colour? I may well be doing a blog post like this soon too!

    1. Thank you, Its not my natural colour I put a nice & easy brown shade on it which starts out very dark and after a couple of washes reverts to this colour. I cant use anything with golden in the name otherwise it goes proper ginger :) I will keep me eye out for your post xx

  7. Oh I can relate to this post in so many ways! I do get bored with my hair a lot - and I hate that when I got to the salon, you really can't tell any difference from before my cut! But I see pics of me with short, above shoulder hair, and I've told all my friends and family to never let me do that again. Same with bangs. I had bangs for about 2 years, and of that 2 years, there was only 1 week where they looked amazingly perfect. I tried the rest of the time to get them to look that way again, and they never did - so I ended up just look awkward most of the time. You could always try the clip in bangs - one of my friends did this, and they actually looked great and natural on her. Anyway - your hair is amazingly gorgeous, so it certainly isn't a bad choice to keep it as is! Thanks for sharing with manic monday!

    1. I no exactly what your saying. I'm with you on the bangs, I don't think I'm going to go there again, its too much upkeep. Anyway I've booked an appointment for this Saturday.....nervous but excited now :) Thanks Carylee xx
